On Tuesday, Michael, Jenny and I arrived around 11am and then we waited for Jason to get in, so Pastor Sammy and Jonathan, a guy from the church, came to meet us at the Air Port and showed us around Porto Alegre. They took us for BBQ -which is not at all what you would imagine. It is just a LOT of meat roasted over a big grill and served off of swords, everything from beef to chicken hearts.Once we all arrived safely, we headed to Bom Retrio do Sul. Sammy and Marcia are being so kind and allowing us to stay with them in their home. Jenny observed this about Sammy and Marcia “Everything they do revolves around ministry. Sammy teaches people of the community how to snorkel and then talks to them about God. Their perspective is incredible, one that I hope to adopt this week. Marcia has already started a kids’ soccer team for the church and even kids who are not part of the church come and play... so there are a lot of neat things going on here.”
Michael has had the opportunity to play soccer a couple of times already; this favorite past time has been a great way to build community with a lot of the youth here in Bom Retiro do Sul.Upon our arrival here in Brazil, we were all greeted with love. It is exciting to see how we have family all over the world. So, we are enjoying our time here with our Brazilian brothers and sisters in Christ. On Wednesday evening a ‘Welcome to Brazil’ service was held. The little kids preformed some hula, choreographed by Francine. It was a treat to have the Mayor of Bom Retiro do Sul welcome us to Brazil! He promised to see us at church on Sunday.
We are all excited to see how God is moving and going to move in this community! Please pray that we will discern the harvest opportunities throughout our stay here."Do not say, 'There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest?' Behold I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields for they are white with harvest." John 4:35

Mike, Jenn, Brittany & Jake,
Say hello to all my friends in Brazil. Francine, I'm so proud of you for taking on the keiki hula halau. I love how you have made the skirts. I miss you all, wish I were there.
Aloha, Toni
Just a note to let you know we've been here to read about your trip. I met Michael for the first time just before you all left & I thought he was such a nice man with his joy so evident. That is how I see you too Brittany. Jake who we all love so much... what a great team. We'll keep you in our prayers and look forward to hearing all the Lord is doing.
With love,
Lee and Renee Steen
